Picking up from Part 9 - !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! where we were masking off panels prepping for paint. Well now there is some fresh blue paint on the truck!

This week got all the jambs, interior of the cab, firewall, and inside of the bed all painted. Now this weekend will be unmasking, remasking and getting all the exterior metal ready to paint this coming week. By next weekend the truck will be painted and hopefully the cab will be sitting back on the frame.

LOVE that blue! That is going to look great.  Will the upper part of the cab be white?

It is and already painted. The front end is also painted white like the was originally. I have just swapped the factory red to factory blue.

I have never done a restoration and am c urious about the restoration process in general. What’s the most difficult part? In my head at least, I feel like the most difficult part for me would be staying organized and making sure I know where everything is and what it goes to after it’s all apart.

As far as the worst part, to me is doing the bodywork. Its the most crucial and time consuming part of a restoration. Your paint job hinges on the quality of bodywork and prep done before hand.

As far as organization of where stuff goes, it can get overwhelming if you just start tearing a vehicle apart with no rhyme or reason. I personally load up on various sized zip lock bags and some sharpies and tape and as I pull something apart all the screws and little pieces go into the bag that is then labeled. You can take lots of pictures as well of how something comes apart to be able to put it back together later. You can also make lists and tasks to be able to keep track of items and things to do.

Thanks for the response. Nice work by the way!

And yea, body work is so tedious. I prepped a motorcycle for paint once and just that took a while.

What’s the name of that blue anyway ? I saw a restored C10 the other day that I’m pretty sure was the same color and i t looked AMAZING, especially in the sunlight.

Its called Medium Blue Poly, it was a factory blue offered in 1967 and 1968. Basically Poly in trucks were the colors with metallic, in 1969 they went to a medium blue that was the same color without the metallic in the paint.
